I am going to Athens in the October half term.



Anyone got any tips on good places to go or handy tips. ?



I am taking the kids and will be doing a day trip to visit Delphi and Thermopylae,

Not much in Thermopylae. Silted up aeons ago. Best site is Epidaurus. Which is odd given that the city state of Argos was one of history's biggest chokers.

I loved it. Did the touristy things (Acropolis) which was impressive but I like just walking around and getting lost. Soon as I got in a cab outside Syntagma Square and told the driver where I wanted he piped up "I recognise that accent". Turned out he'd married a lass from Batley! Although I take offence that my accent is anything like a Batley accent. I'd recommend a trip out to Piraeus which is easy with the Metro.

Don't get caught driving in the rush hour it was utter chaos!



The obvious things to do are the touristy sites such as the Acropolis and the Olympic Stadium.

Get a Flying Dolphin from Piraeus to Aegina (pronounced Egginna). By October there should be plenty of oranges and pistachio nuts
