One player nobody has mentioned much is Thewliss. Is anybody else a little underwhelmed by him. Him and Ashton are chalk and cheese. I see him as a steady eddie who can kick goals but isn't particularly pacy. The dury is still out for me.
He's not our best winger and not a super star, but I think he merits his place. The salary cap means we cannot have super stars in every position.
His 90m try against Wigan last year showed he is no slouch.

I’m looking forward to seeing Wrench and Thewlis pair up again in the near future. You don’t have to measure up to Ashton’s pace to be a great winger. Makinson and Hall are 2 of the best. BTW, Wrench is probably as fast as Ashton if not faster when 100%. 2/3 seasons ago, Wrench was the quickest. Ashton has muscled up though since then.
Not sure where I stand with Thewlis, bit marmite he does have good games and then other times as a right howler. Right now and even though his position is centre I like Lindop on the wing, I also think he is better defensively this is just my opinion. I agree with the earlier poster on Currie that playing at 13 as been a revelation and injuries permitting he goes back there but he is doing a great job at centre right now also. And he apparently told Burgess he is an international centre lol.
I hope we are not seeing signs of Thewlis getting the Grix Disease, where each time he gets injured people start saying he is rubbish.
Every winger (and full back) will have off days; they are the most exposed position in the team and no player is without weaknesses - whether that's lack of height, lack of pace or vulnerability to certain types of kick or opponent. With the right gameplan and personnel you can make life difficult even for a Ryan Hall or a Liam Marshall.
I never said Thewlis was rubbish. I was just stating that he is a steady eddie sort of winger that has a mix of good and bad days. But the question is could we do better? Could Lindop do a better job on the wing. Wrench?
