| To the prat who sent the flare hurtling onto the pitch.
You managed to embarrass us to a level I've not seen since Wire fans chanted through a minutes silence v Wigan in the 80s.
There is no paper talk of the Match this morning, only of Hicks taking the players off the pitch because of you.
Better hope I don't find out your name because I will grass you up.

| Disgraceful scenes tonight, some Wire followers have quite a nasty tendency to launch objects on the field and it needs to be addressed immediately. I woke up this morning to a text about it from a Brummie mate who doesn't follow the sport, this is bad publicity the game can do without.
I have heard some criticism, but I think Mr Hicks deserves a pat on the back for how he handled things. Stepping onto the field of play is extremely difficult, without having to worry about hooligans on the terrace. Particularly one as close to the touch line as the East Stand at Widnes.
The Match Commissioner's report will make for interesting reading at Red Hall this morning.

According to one of the Touch Judges, coins were also thrown at the pitch. There are no words to describe how disgraceful that is.

| I'm just as disappointed by the fans around him who have shielded his act and identity.
If you were one of those there, you to are guity by association.

| Comments on the clubs FB page are :-
a) the flare was thrown to the pitch to protect the spectators around where it was originally set off (not sure on that one but given its hard to move in seats it might have been somebodies idea of "the best option"icon_wink.gif
BUT also
b) the culprit was identified and kicked out. Lets hope the club follow their previous example and serve a lengthy banning notice on them.

| Really pleased the moron bell end was identified. Put his gormless picture in the Warrington guardian and see the oaf get the public ridicule he or she deserves. Should be a life ban for this prick from any sport stadium whatever sport. I cannot understand what pathetic piece of doggy doo would think it appropriate to take a flare into a game in the first place.

Totally agree mate, I was at other end, shame game wasn't on sky as they may have been able to find the thug through video footage, it has ruined the clubs very good family image,,
The other side to it was it probably stopped momentum of game and change the whole dinamics and mindset and focus of our players as the first 6 mins of game we looked solid,
There is a flip side I will never be taking my family to that Widnes hole again, the behaviour of grown men women were shocking, I understand it's there cup final, but such language and yobbish gobbling off in my life,,
Makes me proud when I'm in HJ stadium ,great family atmosphere so at least we are doing something right,, so the act of one idiot last night ,, weed him/her out,,
I personally thought the ref over reacted and ensured his name was in all the papers this morning,, although serious it was a smoke grenade, not a hand grenade,, the stewards looked more bothered about if there was a hole burnt in that shocking pitch of theirs!!!
Mini rant over!!

| It would have been nice if it had got the game called off and we could all have left not knowing about the shambles that was about to come.
But on a serious note, ban the culprit and anyone else chucking bottles/coins. Good to see our lot pointing out the s. The flare seriously killed the atmosphere in our end and halted any momentum on the pitch.

| First off all I hope the idiot who threw the smoke bomb is banned from every ground in the country...As well as the one who threw the pop bottle near the end of the game ( this idiot was pointed out btw).
However the over reaction by the ref ordering the players off (because he could) and the Hi Viz wearing health and safety steward was ridiculous..!
Tony Smith has criticised this, Denis Betts called it Health and safety gone mad.. Just booting the smoke bomb off the pitch and getting on with it should have happened IMO..
That would have sent out a message that boozed up idiot fans can't disrupt a game of Rugby League..

What would send a message out to the idiots is if they got the person who lit it and sent them down to the pitch and rubbed their noses in it.
As regards an "over-reaction", the ref took a decision which he thought was in the best safety interest of the players. What many people dont realise (and that why the pillocks still call them "fun"icon_wink.gif is these things, if handled incorrectly are dangerous (if one of these is set off at a London Broncos game, the Met is one of the police forces who treat them as explosives). The coloured flares contain a combination of chemicals which are dangerous, burn at some ridiculously high temperature, and can become unstable......... and water doesnt work on them.

I agree but I also feel it's right to have this episode hung out to dry to make an example of it....even if it is our dirty underwear that is on the washing line.
That is exactly how I would feel if it was a Pie or a Stain that did it.
We deserve no less.
We all have to shoulder what those feckin idiots did, but we will be wiser for it, and hand on heart, I know us real fans will never let that happen again.

Grow up will you. After the behaviour of your fans last night how can you call the Widnes fans. It was a replica of what happened at your place a few years back. A few idiots throwing smoke bombs. Every club has them. But what was different last night was that your fans threw objects throughout the game. Not just once. I was sat to the right of the widnes South stand. When we scored our last try a bottle got thrown and it just missed Ryan Atkins. Coins were also thrown.
By all acounts your fans were making a disgrace of themselves near the Albion pub and also the train station.
I love the Derby game. I love the fact that you's bring a healthy 2-3 thousand following. It generates atmosphere, improves our gate and makes the spectacle look that much better. 95% of your fans are great like ours, it's just the minority few that spoil it.
I'm sure none of your fans ever use tasteful language ever!'

| I don't think it's fare to imply as many as 5% (150 people approx) of our fans were throwing coins and smoke flares.
Very very likely something like o.o1%

I just think we need to make sure the idiots don't win.. Last night the game was disrupted and caused a lengthy stoppage, it's food for thought... If someone decides to disrupt a game if their team are losing..
I'm just adding a different side to the argument .... I will reiterate I hope the idiot is banned from every ground in the country, no place for throwing anything onto the field of play..

It happened..... championship final Halifax V Featherstone at the HJ. Halifax fan believed to have been responsible for a fire when they were getting beat. after 3/4 hour delay Halifax went on to win.
Totally agree that a lengthy ban is the minimum for anybody throwing objects onto the pitch. At least Warrington set the "benchmark" last season when 1 fan was handed a 5 year ban for being involved in flares.
