There is a policy at the club whereby any returning players must play themselves into contention through the A team. This was agreed between the coaches and senior players as a response to the drop in form last year when players were 'rushed' back into the side.



Any player that is fit and in form will be chosen over any other player who is coming back but has not yet played. This will hopefully benefit the unit as a whole, although there are times when it would be tempting to side-step the system.



As we all have an idea what Danny's character is like, I reckon it's a price worth paying, for the long term benefit of all!

Very true and I think it's the right thing to do. If a player is in good form why should they be dropped as soon as a "big name" comes back. Sends the wrong signals IMO.

Brilliant policy, no one should be entitled to Waltz back into the team. They need to prove it to themselves and the coaches that they are fit enough and on top of their game through the reserves. It's quite obvious that anny wants to be playing but the club are just looking after his best interests and deep down i'm sure he is aware of that

its not a academy its a reserve game, the academy don't they don't start until 4th april

When you talk to them they just say playing in academy.
