Quote TrevLovesJanice="TrevLovesJanice"To be fair, Goole is a pretty impoverished town with only a small population and a strong rugby union tradition (from the local farming area).
Not much to be gained from trying RL there IMO'"
Whilst Union is the most popular due to the Union team that plays from Goole, the majority of people that are into rugby are into both Union and League.
For example, at my school (which I've now left as I'm at 6th form elsewhere) there were quite a few rugby league fans but the range was diverse, supporters of Cas, FC and Leeds.
Also, when walking around town I do occasionally see people in RL attire.
Whilst Goole is only small in comparison to Hull - we have a population of around 20'000 - there are lots of junior sports teams in Goole and the surrounding villages and they're constantly expanding. However, there isn't a Rugby League team (the nearest is at Selby, afaik) and so the setting up of a junior RL team could be a really good step to getting more people into the sport, if it was run correctly.
There is definite potential in Goole for RL, but there is currently no presence.
